**MY TWO CENTS WORTH**
It's been an incredible fall for equestrians. Riding outdoors until mid
November before we got our first snow fall. The good weather also made
for good highway driving for me as I went to visit Mercydes up at
Oakbank several times this month. I am boarding her at Superior
Equestrian for the winter. We were still struggling with saddle fit most
of the month. Really she's been struggling with her saddle fit forever.
I think there is light at the end of the tunnel. This past week Megan
(Megan Nunn is training her this winter) has been experimenting with a
crupper. Cruppers are quite a common devise used in ponies to help keep
the saddle from sliding forward. A crupper slips under the horse's tail
and is attached to the back of the saddle. Mercydes has quite a
difficult physical build for a saddle, very upright and slim shoulders.
My little mare actually tolerated a lot but was never truly happy in her
tack. The saddle would slide forward and end up on her shoulder causing
the tree point to press into her. Megan has reported that the crupper
seems to be working and is helping to make her a happier horse.
Murray and I have just recently made winter plans for a six week stay in
Phoenix, AZ again this year. We spent a month there last year and loved
it. In our hunt for a condo we came across a house for rent in north
Phoenix. In the description of the property it talked about a stable in
the back of the property that was rented to the neighbor who was a horse
trainer. As you can imagine I was excited to investigate further. I
think the dressage gods were looking out for me because the gal next
door is a dressage rider, trainer, coach and judge. I have chatted on
the phone with Lois Whittington of
Lois Whitttington Dressage and feel confident we can work together.
This past weekend we booked the accommodations for the house. I am
really psyched! Come for a visit there is lots of room, the house sleeps
eight. The Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show is scheduled for mid February.
I really enjoyed taking it in last year and looking forward to checking
it out again this year.
I had an extremely busy month with Sue's Tack Shop stuff in
November. Lots of deals are being offered by suppliers at this time
of year. As you can see from the listings in New Items and December
Sales there is a pile of new stuff to check out. I encourage you to

blankets and delivered quite a few on my trips up to Oakbank to
visit Mercydes. There are still lots available (my apologies as the
sizes are mostly large) and the prices are really sharp. Check the

"Unexpected Pleasure" (Kassidee). Dark bay mare, 15.2hh with big
stride and elegant movement. Very forward moving with a heart of
gold, used for many years in pony club (to A level) excelled as
a jumper. Used her to teach lessons to a moderately experienced
rider. She needs someone who is confident with a steady seat and
soft hands. Kassidee has 2 vices, she cribs when eating (we
have a miracle collar for her that works) and she doesn't tie
unless in a trailer. She is such fantastic horse we have always
been able to overlook her vices. Not been ridden regularly for a
few years but whenever she is used she knows her job, an easy
keeper, sound, up to date on vaccinations, deworming and farrier
work. Complete with a variety of equipment (blankets, bridles,
bits, boots, etc) as we have nothing else that fits her
equipment. Looking for a long term home for this mare where she
will be well loved and cared for; has lots of years left, needs
