EDITORIAL CONTENT (MY TWO CENTS WORTH)

I don't think I can remember a June that was so wet. With the wet came the mosquitoes! I encourage you to try an environmental product to repel the mosquitoes. For the last two years I carried a garlic oil based product called Mosquito Barrier. I have discovered a more concentrated product called Mosquito-Less for the same price. We used it on our yard & garden this last week and it made a huge difference in the mosquito population. It can also be used on pasture area, there are no ill effects from animals consuming the garlic formula. My gelding Jamil is headed off to a Parelli Natural Horsemanship clinic with my good horse pal Shelley this weekend.  I wish I could be there to hang out and watch but a friend's wedding is the priority. The first week of July Merecydes and I are headed off to Birds Hill Park to take part in Dressage Winnipeg's dressage camp. I can't wait to immerse myself in dressage for 4 days. It'll be great to meet new like minded friends and rekindle friendships with others I haven't seen for awhile. 

While watching Pete Ramey's dvds, thanks Chelsea H. for loaning them to me to view, on natural horse trimming he mentioned a good website to check out. http://www.safergrass.org/articles/index.html I really encourage you to go through some of the articles on this site. It is our responsibility to be well educated in the management of our horses diets. It affects them in very critical ways. Did you know? ... Safest time to graze: early morning; after a night when the minimum temperature was above 40°F (5°C); on grass that is in a vegetative stage of growth (leaves, not heads) and the grass is under no stress from lack of water or nutrients. Under overcast or shaded conditions, sugar buildup should be slower. A long stretch of cloudy weather will further decrease NSC levels. Most dangerous time to graze: late afternoon or early evening on a sunny day; grass that is heading or flowering; anytime throughout the day if the night before had temperatures below 40°F (5°C); grass that is stressed for lack of water or nutrients; stubble left from mowing or overgrazing, especially in late fall (or winter in areas where grass stays green).
