SUE'S TACK SHOP NEWSLETTER JULY 2009- MORDEN HOME HARDWARE

EDITORIAL CONTENT (MY TWO CENTS WORTH)

June started off to be a pretty good equine month...but things didn't continue that way. In fact they got considerably worse. June 7th I broke my wrist unloading Frisko from the horse trailer. If I had used the safety trailer tie I am sure the accident could have been prevented. Instead I had used my 12' marine line lead to tie him, I guess the knot had tightened during the trip home and when I went to untie him it did not "quick release". Frisko had started backing out and when he hit the end of the rope he panicked. He shoulder checked me into the side of the trailer, my wrist hit metal and broke. It was a clean break not requiring any pins, plates or screws. I am looking forward to the cast being removed by July 23, I refer to it as my due date. The wrist is gaining strength. I was excited to be able to one-arm lunge Frisko last night, good thing he knew what to do. Hopefully I can get back in the saddle soon. Since I wasn't able to get my horse fix in at home I took a road trip. I have two friends that both had "Autocrat" sired foals this spring. Between the two friends I saw 4 colts and 1 filly, all five are beautiful foals.

Last month I put in a special plea for my friend Janet who had an orphaned foal. Here is a note from Janet...."Thank you to all of the kind and caring people who responded to my plea for a nurse mare last month. The number of people who contacted me to offer mares, ideas and advice was absolutely awe inspiring. It is so great to know that there are so many good people out there. I now have a nurse mare, and little Aztec and his foster mom are doing great. A special thank you to Sue for adding my plea to her newsletter at the last minute and for all the information she forwarded, and to my friends who stopped in with flowers, coffee and hugs." Janet McEntee (and Aztec).

**SPECIAL DEAL LIST**   I have a totally different subscriber's list that receive special deals. Some months you will receive one or two deals; some months up to 5 or 6. I pass on hot deals that I get from my suppliers and I never know what is going to come my way. Sometimes there are monthly specials that suppliers offer or they are clearing out inventory. You will need high speed Internet service as these emails have pictures embedded in them. If you'd like to be on this list just drop me a note saying YES to suestackshop@mts.net

**In June I published a special offer for Fleeceworks sheepskin pads etc. It was very well received. The supplier has some items left. Give me a shout if you would like to check out this offer. This past week I also published a special offer with a variety of items to peak the interest of both english and western riders. If you'd like a copy just send me an email. I am currently working on putting together a special offer on Bar F performance boots, should be out by July 6. With the Canadian currency rising in value I am considering putting together an order with Weaver Leather in July. If there are any items you are interested in send me a message and I will give you a quote. Check out Weaver http://ridethebrand.com/catalog.php

VITA STRESS PROFESSIONAL FARRIER’S CHOICE:  Does your horse have cracked, dry hoof, diseased hoof, throwing shoes, soft, spongy hoof, brittle hooves, soft or weak pads, injured hoof?  Farrier’s Choice can correct all of these problems.  As with a broken fingernail, the only way to fix a bad hoof is to let it grow a new one. We can apply a bonding to strengthen the exterior of the hoof while the new hoof grows, but this will not cure the problem. Healing has to be done from the inside. Protein, not Biotin, is the primary constituent of the structural, and protective tissues of the hoof. The role of Biotin is to help break down the protein (amino acids) for faster action. This is why we have mega doses of protein with a few milligrams of Biotin in Hoof Health. The faster the amino acids work, the quicker the hoof heals.  Contains D-biotin, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and amino acids.  Pellets.  5.4 kg-Retail $65.99... SALE $49.99!!! http://www.mordenhomehardware.ca/SuesTackShop/HorseHealth/data.html
