EDITORIAL CONTENT (MY TWO CENTS WORTH)

Manitobans have been hit with some pretty unusual weather this March.  We were all getting excited to start riding again.  The snow was disappearing giving us a glimmer of hope to find a dry spot to ride.  Well this last week of bad weather really set us back into winter. Mentally it was a low blow for all of us equine nuts getting the itch to ride.  We will have to make due with grooming as our horses shed their winter coats.  Some of you are going to be looking for higher ground for your equines with the impending flooding in the Red River region.  Good luck to you all dealing with rising water and livestock.  My gelding has spent the winter under the care of my new friend Dave Toews at MacGregor. Thank you Dave for taking such good care of my new gelding. This past weekend Dave trailered Frisko to my friend Merelyn's at Oakville.  Merelyn has a small indoor arena and room to stable one more horse.  It is so wonderful to have safe footing to ride on. Yippee! I've ridden three days in a row. I am looking forward to spending time with Frisko. He seems to be a gentle soul in a big body. I'm trailer shopping and selling; need a different trailer to haul this big boy.  My other trailer suited my needs perfectly but it is not tall enough for this big fella.  If anyone is interested my 2-horse bumper pull is listed in the classifieds below.  I know you may think this next line is strange but bear with me it's on a parental level.  On a personal note my daughter Jackie is graduating from U of M this April with an advanced Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in political studies. Jackie would certainly appreciate any job leads or advise on finding employment.  Please contact me directly at suestackshop@mts.net and I will forward the information on to Jackie.

DRESSAGE DEMO NIGHT:  Back by popular demand, Irene Schweckendieck returns to Winnipeg from Germany for another Demo Night featuring several horse/rider combinations followed by a Q & A over coffee and cookies.  Sponsored by Dressage Winnipeg and hosted by Oakwood Stables, the theme of the night is Moving on Up - Transition to the Next Level.  Irene will evaluate riders who are planning to move up a level (Training to First, First to Second, Second to Third) this show season.  She will tell us which movements are ready for the next level and which need further work.  Irene will work with each horse/rider to improve these movements.  Following this, riders who are solid competitors at each level will demonstrate what is expected.
