| Each Breyer
horse is a work of art. The creation process begins on a sculptor's table,
where accomplished equine artists sculpt famous horses out of clay. The
sculptors painstakingly define and capture each detail, from physical aspect
of bone structure, muscle tone, relative size and overall shape, to character
and mood. The final pieces of art are cast in steel, injection molded of
cellulose acetate, a highly durable plastic, and hand-painted and airbrushed
to attain their realistic appearance. Famous horses, fictional characters
and all of the popular breeds have been represented in the Breyer line,
including Cigar, Secretariat, Man O' War, Khemosabi, Wing Commander, Gem
Twist, Niatross, Big Ben, Rugged Lark, Misty of Chincoteague and many more.
Produced in four sizes from the traditional 1/9 scale Traditional Series
to the smallest size Stablemate Series at 1/32 scale, Breyer models of
every size are part of many a fond childhood memory. A coveted collectible
for adults, Breyer horses are popular for model horse competitions as well
as artistic endeavors such as customizing and tack making. Collecting,
Showing and Customizing - the model horse hobby has given rise to many
Breyer Clubs and shows throughout the country. |
